Spanish PM reopens the talks with Catalan separatists

MADRID: The Spanish Prime Minister met on Tuesday with the Head of Catalonia for the first time since his government forgive nine separatist leaders from the Affluent region separatist movement.
Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez sat with regional president of Catalan PE Aragones for two and a half hours at the Moncloa Palace, the Spanish government chair.
The Spanish leader has warned that the road to respect the relationship with catalonia separatists will be long.
As expected, the meeting was more about making the team talk again.
Aragones repeated his request for the official referendum of independence, as well as complete amnesty for all who faced legal issues for their role in the offer of illegal 2017 separation in the region.
Sanchez previously said that ballots about independence by an area were not constitutional and that the way forward satisfied Catalan’s needs by focusing on social and economic problems.
“The first meeting with Pedro Sanchez has shown how far our position remains and the proven difference that exists to resolve the conflict,” Aragones said after that.
But, Aragones added that the two leaders agreed that the delegation from each government would meet in September to start the “new round” negotiations.
Last week the Sanchez government forgives nine separatists who have spent more than three years in prison for inciting the offer of the 2017 separation that throws Spain into the crisis.
The Spanish government hopes that the meeting with Aragones helps further improve relations with the northeast corner of the country around Barcelona where about half of the voters support the pro-secession parties.
Sanchez, a socialist, has made a bridge rebuilding with separatists the main objectives of the government of his left wing coalition.
He and separatists agreed to open talks on February 2020.
But the problem of the waste of separatist leaders was the main stumbling block, and Sanchez had not met a separatist leader since then.
While Sanchez was accused by the opposition of Spain’s right-wing over the amazing radicals who wanted to break Spain, the meeting came with political risks for Aragones.
Aragones, who became the new regional leader of Catalonia in May, was pressed to make other unilateral efforts on separation by the hardline cohort.
Although Pardon, the fate of the law of some separatists did not end.
Some are still on the way from Spanish law after escaping to other European countries, and Spanish National Accountability Watchdog said on Tuesday that it would ask the former Catalan official to repay millions of Euro they used to promote the causes of self-separation.
