Thiruvananthapuram: The Assembly Committee was empowered to take action against the Secretary and government officials who did not cooperate with the Committee for their smooth functioning, said the speaker M Bajesh on Tuesday.
“The Assembly Committee is empowered to call the secretary concerned before the committee if they do not provide the necessary details sought after by the committee in the time determined or bring the issue of the interests of the main secretary and if it is also ineffective, the committee can call the head secretary itself,” he said, “he said,” he said, Giving a decision at the point of order submitted by MLA PC Vishnunath about non-cooperation from government officials during the functions of the assembly committee.
Speakers further said that the committee, becoming a miniature assembly, was also empowered to recommend a sentence against the secretary who did not cooperate with the Committee.
The speaker says that such non-cooperative complaints have been repeatedly received on many occasions, and when the details and statements needed are not received from the government on time, the committee function will slip.
The chair is increasingly observing that complaints are being lifted when the committee itself is empowered to take action but the power is not used.
He said that every file was delayed before the assembly committee affected some of life, and it must be given attention and consideration requested by them.
The assembly committee can function smoothly only with government department cooperation.
By ensuring that the committee function is not jammed by citing technical reasons and illness, it can be ensured that all tasks are delayed before the committee (unless the Committee related to Financial Problems) is completed within 30 months, which is the assembly period determined by the committee, he said.
