LUCKNOW: UP Assembly Speaker Hriday Narayan Dixit on Tuesday said that the committee set up for smooth functioning of UP Assembly in the wake of the pandemic would soon send a report to Lok Sabha.
Dixit made the announcement during a virtual interaction with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
Speakers of other states such as Assam, Bihar, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Odisha and Rajasthan had also connected to the meeting.
Chairpersons of some of the legislative councils had also taken part in the meeting.
Dixit admitted that the Assembly often faced repeated disruptions because of protests staged by the Opposition benches.
He said that there have been recurrent moments when members of the Opposition parties had stormed the well.
Dixit is the chairman of the committee set up by Parliament to oversee the smooth functioning of Assembly proceedings.
The speaker said that this year, the Assembly had held 65 hours of meetings with the participation of 116 members.
In 2020, the state Assembly had organised three special sessions including a 36-hour-long one aimed to achieve sustainable goals of the United Nations.
