Special Crime Investigation Branch to Combat Organized Crime in Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Head of Odisha Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday announced the creation of a branch of a special crime investigation under the commissional police to prevent crime in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack which continues to grow.
The proposed unit will be led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
This will conduct an investigation into organized crime, drug trafficking and economic violations, a written statement from the office of the minister’s chairman.
Naveen has gave sanctions 59 posts, including DCP, a deputy commissioner of the police, three assistant commissioners, nine inspectors, twelve sub-inspectors and three sub-inspector assistants for the smooth function of the crime unit.
Considering the expansion of twin cities and population growth, the government has also decided to increase three police posts into the police station.
These include the Page of Pahala under the Balinese Police Station (Bhubaneswar), Valley Outpost Info under the Jatni Police Station (Bhubaneswar) and Pos Bekarak under the Cuttack Aware Police Station (Cuttack).
Police Commissioner Saumendra Priyadar Said the new crime investigation unit will function at the DCP (crime) line in Delhi and Mumbai.
“DCP (crime) proposed will operate from Bhubaneswar and oversee investigations into sensational crimes in twin cities.
The new unit will also relieve pressure on the territorial DCPS,” he added.
It must be noted that the government plans to introduce Odisha Goonda and anti-social activities (prevention) act to examine organized crime syndicates throughout the state.
The bill bill has been sent to the Law Department.
It is said that anti-social people will be labeled as GOONDA if the acts of violence disrupt public order and endanger public safety.
The proposed legislation will help reduce crime such as extortion, land grabbing, contract murder, child pornography and cyber stalkers, among others in the state.
Builders and Land Mafia won land, kidnapping for extortion, crimes against women and parents can be handled under the proposed special law.
