Special panel to look at the pre-concept camp

Thiruvananthapuram: The government has formed a three-member committee to examine and improve all shortcomings, if any, in the Pre-Draft Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) prepared by the National Science Study Center (NCESS), the minister of Pinarayi Chairman Vijayan said in the Assembly on Thursday.
He said that CZMP would be ready on September 30 this year.
Replying to submission by MLA M Rajagopalan, the ministerial head said that the panel led by the Secretary of the Additional Chief (Environment) also included Experts P Z Thomas and P B Sahasranamam.
The Committee has also been asked to prepare guidelines on the steps that must be taken by the state to overcome the difficulty of the notification of coastal regulations (CRZ) in 2019.
The committee is also asked to consider all the findings and recommendations in this case consider and make the necessary suggestions based on it , The Committee will consider concerns and suggestions by additional stakeholders and recommendations for the government that can be adopted.
The minister’s chairman said that the expert panel had met twice.
The tourism plan has been received and a fisheries plan will be submitted on July 25.
After all the plans are accepted, the draft will be circulated to our own government agency and public hearings will be carried out after accepting the opinion of local bodies.
The minister’s chairman said that instructions have been given to improve all the shortcomings at the level of the department itself so that they can reduce complaints during public hearings.
The minister’s chairman said that while Padi land would continue to be stipulated under the conservation of rice and wetlands, mangroves on private land would not be included in CZMP because they were not included in the buffer zone in 2019.
