MySuru: Close on the heel of the arrest of two individuals, which is held with 700 kg of sandalwood logs which are estimated to be worth almost Rs 1 Crore, Mysuru police have increased efforts to curb activities involved in smuggling operations, and Honcho Nab at the top of this racket leader.
Sleuth City Crime Branch (CCB) was led by the Assistant Commissioner of CK Ashwathnarayan and consisting of Inspector Mallesha, among others, uncovering the racket involved in the smuggling of sandalwood.
Following the seizure of a very large sandalwood cache, the police suspected the involvement of organized crime syndicates in the operation.
The intention to end the cendana smuggling of the district, Mysuru police have decided to form a special team that will be entrusted by looking into the operation.
The sandalwood log was confiscated by the police transported to Bengaluru in a special vehicle that contained hidden space where the log was hidden.
The duo captured by Sleuth CCB has claimed ignorance of the scope of the operation.
The two individuals said that they only followed orders to transport logs from Mysuru to Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, the police interrogated the duo, while installing a ginger search in parallel.
The source of the police suspected that the kingpin was a resident of a neighboring country.
Information that had been caused by the police from both captured has helped ensure that the log they moved came from a tree cut down in the Mysuru area.
Deputy Kamala Forest Conservator The Kamala Karikalan told TII, “The Ministry of Forestry is always willing to help the police to curb such activities, and will share any information that will help them.
The sandalwood log that is confiscated is being stored in the sandalwood depot throughout the country, including one in Mysuru .
“Kamala said that there were 15 types of sandalwood, with prices ranging from Rs 7,000 per kilogram to rs 20,000 / kg.
