New Delhi: PM Narendra Modi on Sundays underlined the need to focus on preparedness and ensure adequate health infrastructure at the district level to combat Covid-19 cases which increased rapidly throughout the country which was powered by the Omicron variant of SARS-COV2.
PM also emphasized to accelerate Covid vaccination among teenagers in ‘mission mode’, building a strong foundation that has been placed with more than 31% of young people aged 15-17 years after being covered with the first dose in just one week.

In a high-level meeting on Sunday night, PM assessed the current pandemic situation in various countries, preparedness to deal with it and progress in vaccination.
The review meeting was attended by Minister of Home Affairs Amit Shah, Minister of Health Mansukh Mandaviya and senior government officials.
The Head of the Railroad and Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation was also present.
The meeting, who came a day after the Election Commission announced a schedule for polls for five countries.

More than 1.59 lakh new cases were recorded from all over the country on Saturday.
The total active Kaseload Covid-19 stood at 5.9 lakh.
Daily positivity has increased to 10.2%.
PM further advises the need for an effective implementation of home insulation for mild or asymptomatic cases and to disseminate factual information to the community in general, the government said in a statement.
Noting that Coronavirus has developed continuously, Modi underlines the need for continuous scientific research in testing and vaccines other than pharmacological interventions, including genome sequencing.
Thank you for relentless services provided by health workers in managing pandemics, he ensures a dose of prevention for them and other frontline workers must be taken in mission mode, the statement said.
Furthermore, highlight the need to ensure the continuity of non-covid health services while managing Covid cases, PM underlines the need to utilize telemedicine to ensure the availability of guidelines related to health to people in remote and rural areas.
