Chennai: While the new cases of Covid-19 in Tamil Nadu dropped to 1,756 on Wednesday, at least 15 districts including Chennai, reported a surge in new cases.
The total number of deaths reported in the country was stable at 29.
New cases in Chennai, up for the second day with the city registering 164 new cases.
On Tuesday, the city reported 139 cases.
Chennai reported the second highest number of cases after Coimbatore (179).
Casimbatore cases also saw an increase from 169 on Tuesday.
Besides Chennai and Coimbatore, Erode also recorded a marginal surge in 127 cases on Monday to 140 on Wednesday.
While Ramanathapuram has reported a decline from nine cases on Tuesday to seven on Wednesday, the scrambler reported an increase from six cases on Tuesday to seven on Wednesday.
After using 2,394 people from Covid Registry, TN has 21,521 active cases.
Prohibiting Coimbatore, Chennai, Erode and Chengalpet (117), all other districts in this country reported less than 100 cases on Wednesday.
There were 1,917 active cases in Coimbatore, followed by 1,474 in Chennai.
Of the 29 deaths, Salem reported five, followed by four in Coimbatore.
While Chennai and Cuddalore reported their three deaths, Error and Trichy reported two of each.
Ten districts reported one death and 22 did not have death.
Meanwhile, 2.3 lakh people received their shot on Wednesday.
