Coimbatore: There is a surge in cases of dengue fever reported every day in the city, especially among children.
While the ongoing rainy season has offered a conducive environment for Aedes mosquito breeding, health experts calling for district and community administration to take prevention steps to keep children from falling victims of dengue fever.
Dr.
V Boom, Head, Pediatric Department, Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH), said at least 20 children were hospitalized every day with diseases such as bloody after rain in the past two weeks.
Being a tertiary care hospital, said Dr.
Booma, the cases called CMCs from various parts of the district and neighboring districts.
“Cases are reported most of Mettupalayam and Udumalpet.” Dr.

A Jayavardhana, Head of the Pediatric Department, PSG Hospital, said they were getting around seven to 10 children with dengue fever or related diseases every day.
