Coimbatore: After one year the Christmas celebration is weak because of the restrictions of Covid-19, the spirit and excitement back on Christmas day here on Saturday.
All churches were faced with bright and colorful lights from Friday night to welcome loyal people for midnight mass.
Special prayers are done trying to get rid of the omicron virus, protect people from diseases and bestow them peacefully.
People follow Covid regulations and attend masses, special songs and prayers in the middle of the night and Saturday morning.
Everyone wore a mask.
Hand sanitis was given to them before entering the church.
“Every year, we will visit the Church for Mass Midnight to call Christmas.
But last year, we can’t because of Norma Covid.
This year, we are happy that we can visit the church and pray,” said Philomina Kumar from Pealamedu.
At home, Christians exchanged cakes and sweets with their neighbors, spreading the joy of Jesus’ birth.
Houses are also decorated with bright lights.
That day was also marked by family gatherings because of relatives from afar and widely joined to make an impressive celebration.
“We moved to a new home this year.
Christmas turned out to be the perfect opportunity for us to share cakes with our neighbors and get used to them,” said Richard Selvam, a resident of R Puram.
