At the time of demand for Covid-19 paid vaccines have dropped and more than 75% of the target population in Mysuru District has received at least one dose, several private hospitals in the city now offer sputnik vaccines.
So far, only about two dozen mysureans have taken the rusiamade vaccine.
MySuru is the second city after Bengaluru who has a foreign vaccine offered.
However, unlike covishield and covaxin provided free in government centers, those who are looking for a two-dose vaccine must pay Rs 1,145 per dose.
Sputnik’s arrival was postponed by two months and private hospitals said they received many questions for vaccines because many believers were more effective than covishield or covaxin, two vaccines used.
Ng Bhartheesha Reddy, Vicepresident, Apollo Hospitals, who offer sputnik, said because most people have been vaccinated, hospitals only have 600 sputnik doses.
“We are ready to buy more if there is a request.
We are also ready to manage vaccines in areas outside the city,” he said.
