Hyderabad: With the commercial launch of Russian Covid-19 Vaksin Sputnik V has not taken off three months after receiving the General Of India (DCGI) drug controller authorization of Emergency Use (EUA), Dr.
Reddy’s laboratory on Tuesday said the launch has not been held and expected in the coming weeks , “Dr.
Reddy will strengthen the Commercial Roll-Out Sputnik V in the coming weeks.
Both the ongoing soft commercial launch or work towards Ramp-Up in India has been postponed,” said the company in a statement.
Dr.
Reddy’s, which is an Indian partner of the Russian direct investment fund (RDIF), also said that the national launch of the vaccine has reached more than 50 cities throughout the country because the pilot began on May 14 this year.
The company, however, did not disclose the reason inhibiting the full commercial launch, which had been postponed for almost a month on the mid-June line announced by the previous company.
After receiving the EUA nod in the second week of April, Dr.
Reddy launched a soft pilot launch on May 14 with Senior Official Dr.
Reddy’s Laboratories get the first dose.
As part of the pilot, the company began by vaccinating its employees and their families with a dose imported from Russia and after that opening vaccination to the general public at a private hospital last month.
“Dr.
Reddy’s has partnered with a large hospital throughout the country for this purpose, all of which have managed to manage Sputnik V in India, including commercial roll-out ongoing to the public,” he said.
The commercial launch seems to be cut off by the lack of adequate import from Russia even when local-produced doses are not yet available for vaccination.
