Spy cams found in a woman’s bathroom at the Australian Embassy in Bangkok

BANGKOK: The former staff at the Australian Embassy in Bangkok has been charged after several spy cameras found in a woman’s bathroom on the mission, said a Canberra official.
The Australian Foreign Ministry and trade confirmed that the Royal Thai police have arrested former local staff members last month.
“The welfare and privacy of all staff remain a priority for the department and we continue to provide appropriate support,” said Department spokesman in a statement to AFP.
The spokesman refused to comment further about the ongoing legal issues.
Khemmarin Hassiri, commander of the Royal Thai police foreign affairs division, said that the Australian Embassy filed a complaint against a man on January 6.
Thai police said the investigation was underway.
It was not clear how long the camera was in the bathroom, with this problem just lit after the SD camera card was found on the bathroom floor last year, according to a report by ABC Australia.
The incident represents serious security violations, an Australian defense expert and foreign policy to AFP.
“If security is quite loose to allow devices such as cameras to install anywhere in a safe area, it is not strict enough to keep the embassy safe,” Hugh White, a strategic study professor at the Australian National University, said.
