Colombo: Sri Lanka Cricketers because playing in India in this month’s series signed a contract related to a new performance after being given a deadline for Wednesday, but the Captain Thinuth Karunaratne test and former captain Angelo Mathews have been abandoned, said the source.
The national squad, which has suffered a number of defeats on the pitch and the problem of discipline out of the competition, has been logged by Sri Lanka Cricket since May for a new contract.
Karunaratne and Mathews have been abandoned from the squad to play India in three international days one day and three matches twenty20 against India starting July 13 in Colombo.
The other players were given until Wednesday morning to sign a new contract and all had agreed, said Sri Lanka’s cricket source.
“Players are told in uncertain things that they must accept new requirements or leave the team hotel on Wednesday morning,” said the source of the council to AFP.
“They have signed contracts and payment disputes now.” The Board has cut costs for 24 national players by 40 percent in a new performance-based agreement, which has long been detained by the players.
Several rounds of conversation failed until the board issued an ultimatum this week.
The players, who returned on Tuesday night from a bad tour view in England, did not enter the comments.
