Colombo: Sri Lanka on Friday expanded its national locking until September 13, in the midst of a surge in the number of Covid-19 deaths and pressure installation on the health care system during the third wave of Coronavirus.
President Sri Lanka Gotabhaya Rajapaksa has ordered a 10-day lock on August 20.
The decision to extend the Kuncian was taken after a Covid task meeting with President Gotabhaya on Friday, officials said.
Health Minister Kehelyiya Rambukwella said that locking would continue for a period of 7 days again until September 13.
