Colombo: Sri Lanka can end its locking day.
If the high-powered committee intends to decide on things related to Covid-19 in this country recommend it during this weekend’s meeting, said Shavendra Silva panel on Wednesday.
The island state goes to locking on August 20 because of a sudden increase in Koronavirus infection.
Silva, who is also the head of the Sri Lankan army, said that the recommendation on how to reopen the country under a tight coin will be carried out to President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa after a committee meeting on Friday.
“Recommendations on how to reopen the state under strict conditions will be carried out to the President this week, it is likely that the lock will be raised depending on the recommendation,” Silva said.
Dr.
Sudarshani Fernandopulle, Minister of Sri Lanka for Covid’s prevention, said the last month’s locking had caused slowing on the number of infections and deaths.
“Lockdown has helped alleviate the situation despite criticism of leveling,” he said.
However, the Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) contradicts the Minister’s statement, saying the cases are still increasing.
“As a country, we have not left the danger zone.
We still find more than 2,000 new cases a day, which means there may be at least 6,000 cases in the community,” said Dr.
Padma Gunaratne from SLMA.
“We are still in the red zone.
This is why it is important for the community and the government pays attention to this and takes every size to prevent other waves,” he said.
Sri Lanka has experienced the third wave since mid-April.
The number of deaths numbered 678 on April 30 is now close to 12,000.
