SSC sports marks to be based on Class VII, IX

MUMBAI: The sports quota marks for class 10 students in the state will be done based on their performance in sporting events in class 8 and 9.
Schools have got down with the marking process of students to declare the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) results.
A maximum of 25 marks are allotted under the sports quota.
Students participating in international tournaments and those ranking in top three in national competitions get 25 marks.
Participation in national sporting events and winning state-level tournaments will earn 20 marks.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) on Friday directed schools to consider a student’s sports performance in class 8 and 9.
The tabulation of marks by schools began on Friday.
In case of class 12, the sports marks of the previous year will have to be considered.
A decision about the marking process for Higher Secondary School (HSC) students is awaited.
In the academic year 2020-21, no sports events were held due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Schools and junior colleges have to submit the sports marks of the students (SSC and HSC) to the district sports officer by June 21.
The marks will then be submitted to the divisional board by June 25.
Meanwhile, schools are awaiting instructions on tabulation of marks of children with special needs.
The Maharashtra government has decided not to hold both the SSC and the HSC examinations in the state this year owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The other boards (CBSE and ICSE) have also cancellated their respective examinations.
Two days ago, the education board decided that all results will be final and students, even if they are unsatisfied with it, cannot re-evaluate the results.
