Vadodara: He has worked without a holiday during the Covid-19 pandemic.
In fact, he was one of the first in the nurse staff at the biggest hospital in the middle of Gujarat – SSG Hospital – in Vadodara to handle a Positive Covid-19 mother and a newborn baby when almost everyone was afraid of a deadly virus.
Two years ago, when most of the ward was very flooded, he along with doctors and supporting staff of the population ensured that the Gynecology and Obstetrics Department continued to function.
On September 15, the dedication to the profession will be recognized as President Ramnath Kovind will provide a prestigious 2020 virtual National Nightingale National Award in Bhanumati Gheewala with a pity called Sister Bhanuben.
The Indian Nursing Council, a legal entity under the Ministry of Health and the Welfare of the Family, conferred awards to recognize the contribution of health workers.
The 56-year-old head nurse did his duty six days a week at a government hospital and on the seventh day he provided voluntary services at the Ramkrishna mission to support their child’s welfare activities.
Bhanuben who joined the nurse in 1988 underwent training in special gynecology in Chandigarh in 2000 and completed the nurse practitioner midwife program in 2010.
He also continued to improve himself.
“Over the years, we have followed the conventional method.
It was after the workshop on alternative birth positions in July 2019 that we began practicing the position of birth that displayed lying down, squatting or lying on the side that had physiological and psychological advantages over conventional posture,” said Bhanuben.
“This is indeed a matter of pride for all SSG hospitals that our nursing staff have been chosen for this prestigious award,” said Professor Ranjan Aiyer, medical supervisor at SSG Hospital.
