St.
Louis: A firefighter St.
Louis died on Thursday and the others were injured after a large house collapsed while firefighters were looking to make sure there was nothing inside.
Dennis Jenkerson’s firefighting head said the Blaze broke out before noon with a structure of 2 1/2 floors in St.
North Louis.
It was not clear whether the house was empty, and because homeless people often lived in empty houses to keep warm in winter, firefighters went to the burned building.
Firefighters put out the fire on the first floor and went to the second, but the flame there was so intense they decided to leave, said Jenkerson.
When the two firefighters will soon come out of the second floor, the roof and upstairs the house of the brick collapsed on it.
The died fire extinguisher was identified as Benjamin Polson, who had been with the department since November 2019, said firefighting officials.
Jenkerson said Polson “trapped under extraordinary debris until we dig him.” The second fire extinguisher was injured due to the initial collapse and when trying to save Polson, said Jenkerson.
His condition was not immediately known.
“We are paid to protect life.
We paid to take risks and, you know, it’s hard to tell someone on the road that shouted and shouted at us that there might be someone there, this risk might be too big,” said Jenkerson.
“So we take risks and unfortunately, it is very risky that we take today is not worth it.
We lost firefighters.” The fire damaged several nearby houses.
The cause has not been determined.
