Chennai: Staff members of the temple run by the Department of Religion and Charity Endowmen (HR & CE) will soon wear uniforms.
This step is intended to help worshipers identify temple staff.
Chief Minister M K Stalin on Tuesday launched a scheme by distributing uniforms to 12 priests and other staff members from the Temple of SDM & CE.
SDM & CE Minister P K Sekar Babu, Chief Secretary of V IRAI ANBU and senior officials attended the occasion.
Suhanjana, the only Oduvar country woman at the current HR & CE temple, received a uniform from CM along with 11 others.
The female staff member will wear maroon with a yellow border.
The male priest will wear dhoti and scarf with a limit.
Other male staff members will be given chocolate trousers and sandal color shirts.
The department will distribute uniforms with a total of 52,803 staff members at 36,684 temples.
Each of them will get two uniform sets, according to officials.
