Ghaziabad: Three individuals were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly blackmailing and demanding cash from a company who owns a mill in Hindon Vihar.
The accused have been identified as Aparna Tyagi along with also her husband, Ankit, along with Ghaziabad resident Arun Ghosh.
Neeraj Singh, SHO, Nandgram, stated Aparna and Arun employed to operate for the president, a resident of Ghaziabad, plus they intended to blackmail him once they came to understand he had been in a relationship with a girl outside his union.
They set up a camera at his office cottage and accumulated footage with the girl.
“Aparna shared with the footage together with her husband Ankit and he phoned the businessman up posing as gangster Neeraj Bawana.
The call has been made from a cell phone which had a SIM bought using a fake ID.
Ankit told the guy he had video records where he could be observed together with his girlfriend,” Singh explained.
Ankit also jeopardized the guy and wanted Rs 25 lakh from him.
After talks, the businessman advised the caller he was prepared to pay Rs 10 lakh in 2 instalments, Singh added.
Afterwards, the authorities were advised and the three accused had been detained.
“During questioning, they informed the authorities they believed of this program after seeing a TV series called Crime Patrol.
They’d read gangster Bawana in papers and idea of using his title to blackmail the guy,” that the SHO stated.
A police officer stated they wanted cash from the businessman since they weren’t receiving their whole wages for the last couple of months.
Following a police complaint, an FIR had been lodged under sections 342 (wrongful consignment), 323 (voluntarily causing damage ), and 389 (placing individual in fear of accusation of vandalism in order to commit extortion) of this IPC and related segments of the IT Act.
These were sent to prison after being made in court.
