Stakeholders support government policies on electric vehicles

Bhubaneswar: Policy Electric State Government (EV), in 2021, which now has a cabinet approval seal, has received a thumbs up from policy makers, climate activists, car dealers and the general public.
Minister of Trade Padmanabha Behera said the department would quickly implement the policy.
He added that he was sure that people would buy more EV because of incentives, which will be given by the state government, as part of the policy.
The policy, which will be notified immediately, offers incentives on EVS purchases, which will reach Rs 5,000 for two-wheeled vehicles, 10,000 Rs for tricycle and up to RS 50,000 four-wheeled.
It aims to achieve registration of at least 20% of electric vehicles operated with batteries in 2025 in addition to promoting the manufacture of these vehicles and their components, increasing innovation and research in the fields related to EVS.
“Because the global temperature increase is the point of attention for all, the policy will also help reduce emissions caused by vehicles carried out on fossil fuels.
While many countries have formulated their respective EV policies, our cabinet agrees now.
We are sure to reach the target registration 20% of us in 2025, “said Behera.
Welcoming the policy, Climate Activists Ranjan Panda said the success of the state EV policy depend on the strengthening of the infrastructure needed to run electric vehicles such as charging points, the availability of EV batteries and power supply.
