Chennai: Chairman of the Minister M K Stalin on Thursday opened 70 cooperative pharmacies in 36 districts in Tamil Nadu.
The outlet will supply drugs to the public with a 20% discount.
The Cooperative Department runs 303 medical stores in the state and plays a big role in loading market prices.
“Announcements are made in the budget to improve pharmacies with 60 every year to take total calculations to 600.
The main minister opens 70 new pharmacies today,” said an official release.
The opening ceremony takes place through video conferencing.
The cooperative pharmacy presence produces a personal outlet that reduces prices and the first to get great support from the public.
Each pharmacy is equipped with adequate infrastructure, computerized and air-conditioned.
A pharmacist and assistant will run the store.
In November, the Cooperative Department issued a statement that denied the allegations that the AMMA pharmacy from the previous AIDMK regime was closed.
The department said it has increased the number of Amma pharmacies from 126 to 131.
