VADODARA: The selected works of pre-prominent artists – Kaaguru Ravishankar M Raval and Somalal Shah – are shown in the Hall of the Faculty of Art Faculty of Fine Arts from Wednesday.
This exhibition has been placed by the Painting Department in collaboration with Gujarat State Lalit when academy as part of the celebration of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
Professor Jyoti Bhatt, the recipient of Padma Shri, inaugurated the exhibition that will remain at sight to 1.
Borno Bhavnagar, Raval is a cultural entrepreneur.
A painter, illustrator, teacher and art writer, Raval established several forums and art institutions.
It was referred to as Kaaguru from Gujarat, he also played an important role in bringing up the Faculty of Art in Vadodara.
Shah Kapadwanj-born on the other hand was briefly studied at Sir J J.
School of Art, Mumbai before continuing his studies at Vadodara under the guidance of Chattopadhyay’s Pramodumar and also at the Society of Oriental Art, Kolkata.
With the advice of Raval, Shah took the teachings in Dakshinamurthy School in Bhavnagar and joined Alfred High School in the same city.
His work was recognized for the Saurashtra pastoral scene.
