State birds struggle to find habitats in noida, said activist

Greater Noida: Sarus Crane, State Bird, is struggling to find habitats in the district because of heavy water on Dhanauri wetlands, and the lack of other wet areas, a must for their breeding.
Most of the stained crane at GB Nagar lives in Dhanauri, but they find it difficult to land there during winter because weed excess growth.
Also, in summer, water runs out, makes the area be inhabited.
Three stained cranes, including two chicks and a mother, have reportedly died on a wetland for the past month.
For 150 graphed cranes were on Dhanauri’s wetland, but Birders asked how long they had declined consistently.
International Union for Nature Conservation (IUCN) has included a Sareal crane in the red list of species threatened.
Based on the 2018 bird counter data, there are only 25,000 stained cranes throughout the world, and found in Uttar Pradesh, nearly 14,000, organizing more than half of the global population.
The only conservation plan needed is expand protection to their habitat.
However, for Dhanauri, the situation doesn’t look too good.
One of the problems – the hyacinth spread on wetlands and blocking birds from landing there.
Environmental lovers say that cleaning ondebinth this during bird migration period is very important for their survival.
An adult Sarus Crane was found dead on Dhanauri’s wetland on December 29.
Only five days later, other Sarus girls were found dead.
Previously, another girl had been found unconscious on December 25, dying later in care.
All of these events ask questions about why wetlands do not get protection.
Dandan Arya, a birdder and environmental lover, remembering Dadri’s wetlands that no longer exist, said, “Dadri is one of the wetlands, where nearly 48 cranes are seen in the early 2000s.
But then the wetlands disappeared in 2010- 11, and we wondered where the birds left.
Then on June 1, 2014, looking for them, we met a village boy who took us to Dhanauri.
That day, I counted 47 Sarus cranes in Dhanauri, and in the year 2021, their number is 147.
We have also recorded around 8-10 nests every year on this wetland.
So, there is an urgent need to provide confession to Wetland Dhanauri as the Sarus Crane Sanctuary.
“Arya said that the crane was stained in shallow waters in shallow waters Fish and rice fields or rice fields where they eat shoots and small insects.
Previously, farmers played a role in protecting these birds and recovering their population by keeping their eggs in the fields.
But over time, this has also changed, Arya added.
At present, the use of pesticides in the fields pose a risk of bird poisoning.
Narinder Kohli, a photographer of wildlife from Noida, said that construction inside and around Dhanauri’s wetlands also had an impact on bird habitat.
“Construction is a big threat to the Habitat Crane Sarus.
If this wetland is not protected, these birds will shift to another place immediately, and it will be a big loss for the ecology of the region,” said Kohli.environmentals said the number of grain cranes in this district decrease.
“The number of stained cranes has dropped significantly.
While India has the largest concentration of the Sarus Crane, more than 20,000, a few years ago, at present, less than 8,000.
The main concentration in India is in Mainpuri, Etawah, Aligarh, Ettache, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Shahjahanpur, Barabanki and Hardoi Regency, but the number of birds began to decrease due to increased urbanization.
Their habitat runs out when cities are drafted into urban cities, “said Arya.
Jaswinder Warach, a bird observer, said, “Sarus Crane is a wandering species.
To make them stay here, the state government must involve experts and develop an action plan.”
