State scholarship exam for class V / VIII on August 8

Mumbai: In the first offline school exam for the 2020-21 academic year, class V and VIII scholarship tests will be held on August 8, optional examinations canceled twice this year because of the second wave of pandemic.
However, considering the fear of the third wave, parents were reluctant to make their children appear for two papers for 90 minutes each.
“Even though the two papers will be held in gaps, children will be in the exam centers for several hours.

The state provides scholarships to 100 students from class V and VIII in each district.
Class V students get Rs 1,000 per year until grade VII.
Likewise, class VIII students get RS 1,000 every year until class X.
The amount is stored in the student bank account.
Although the exam was carried out by the Maharashtra State Examination Board aimed to encourage students from poor backgrounds, they also have many takers among private schools.
“Getting a state scholarship is a moment of pride for students and also schools.
This adds to the academic advantage of students,” said the Principal of Worli.
Civic, Zilla Parishad and the government school also prepared students for the exam.
“The number of scholarships must be increased to encourage more students to try this,” said a civil education inspector.
