Stay at home, say the Taliban for Kabul City Workers

Kabul: Afghanistan’s capital interim mayor said many women city employees have been ordered to stay at home by the Taliban rulers in that country.
Namony Hamdullah told reporters on Sunday that the only woman who can not be replaced by men have been allowed to report for work.
He said this includes skilled workers in the department of design and engineering as well as public toilets female officers for women.
Comments Namony is another sign that the Taliban enforce their harsh interpretation of Islam, including restrictions on women in public life, in spite of the early promise of tolerance and inclusion.
In their previous government in the 1990s, the Taliban had banned girls and women from schools and jobs.
The mayor said the final decision on female employees in the department of Kabul is still pending, and that they would withdraw their salaries in the meantime.
He said that before the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan last month, just under a third of the city close to 3,000 employees were women working in all departments.
