BHUBANESWAR: On the eve of this World No Tobacco Day on Sunday, specialists and anti-tobacco activists appealed to individuals to refrain from ingesting tobacco and tobacco goods mentioning their ill-effects at the very long term.
Lalatendu Sarangi, manager, Acharya Harihar Post graduate Institute of Cancer, Cuttack, stated tobacco products would be the significant contributors of cancer along with other lifestyle diseases from the country.
“If people quit swallowing tobacco goods, about 50 percent of these cancer cases can be avoided.
So prevention is much better than cure,” he added.
Cautioning the youth from the risks of getting tobacco, he explained,”If anyone chews tobacco, then he/she can acquire oral cancer and esophageal cancer.
Tobacco affects each member in 1 form or another.
” “Previously, people could produce cancer following chewing tobacco for whatever between 10 and 15 decades, but nowadays kids are becoming cancer over four to six decades of swallowing smokeless tobacco.
It’s high time we quit it in the origin,” Sarangi farther stated.
The state government has enforced a ban on the manufacture, storage, purchase and supply of gutkha and pan masala containing tobacco or nicotine as January 3, 2013.
The then health minister had promised the government would apply regulations, but mostly remains on newspaper Activists alleged that lots of stores publicly flout the ban purchase and market gutkha and pan masala.
They wanted strict action against the vendors and producers of those products.

Padma Charan Nayak, mentioned prohibitionist and anti-tobacco campaigner, said that the state authorities must ensure the execution of this ban and authorities should run raids and impose penalties on the sellers and manufacturers throughout the nation.
