Copenhagen: The sub-variant of the tension of very contagious Omicron Coronavirus is even more transmitted than the original version, according to Danish research published on Monday.
Sub-variant BA.2 – Also called “stealth omicron” – detected earlier this year and has transferred the first omicron variant, known as BA.1, as a Domark strain in Denmark.
Someone infected BA.2 has a 39 percent chance to transmit viruses to other people in their household in a week, compared to the risk of 29 percent with BA.1, SSI Denmark health authority said in a statement.
Research by SSI researchers and Danish universities involved 18,000 people and carried out between December 20 and January 18.
Doctor SSI Camilla Holten Moller said BA.2 was more likely to infect people who were not vaccinated than BA.1.
Those who have been completely affixed, especially those who have received a booster dose, are much less likely to capture tension, he added.
SSI previously said BA.2 was one and a half times more infection than BA.1, according to the initial data.
Scientists still monitor the transmission of sub-variants and the severity of the disease caused, but international data shows it can spread rapidly.
Denmark on Tuesday will become the first EU country to raise all the restrictions of Coronavirus despite records the number of cases, quoting a high level of vaccination and lower omicron severity.
The original Omicron variant was first detected in South Africa in November 2021 and has since become the dominant tension in the world.
