Step in the right direction: Herdsman is in group of children to school

Nagpur: Forced to migrate to Maharashtra more than four decades ago because of the drought in their home country, Bharwad Herdsman of Gujarat and their famous cows are very part of Vidarbha’s rural landscape.
Held in the second generation of migrants, Ramabhai Jograna is always worried that even though many years have settled in the state, most people remain cut off from the mainstream.
Maybe education can help them, he thought.
In an effort to educate the next generation of Bharwads, Jograna has opened a small chain of rustic school with its own strength.
The schools walked right near the shepherd’s settlement, with the teachers who also settled nearby.
After starting with one school in Sonkhamb Village in Katol Tehsil Nagpur, he will open three more in the villages in Umred, Hingna Ana Sauroner.
Schools will be inaugurated on July 12.
Schools have arrangements with City NGO Learning Companion, where young people are interested in taking careers in the education involved.
The teachers, who come from various parts of the area, remain close to schools, make themselves available every day.
At present, its classes come from pre-pratama to 4th grade and are located close to different Bharwad settlements.
Bharwad might have submitted their nomadic ways, but even now they settled from the villages.
“We have a government school in villages but somehow children cannot understand the study, maybe the teacher is not very interested.
Parents too, who are not educated, cannot help them at home.
I always wonder if some special settings Can be made for our children, “Jograna said.” I finally contacted this NGO and they helped me start school.
They came to Badpipla in Saonary, Kuiphata near the village of Urmred and Asola in Hingna.
Local teachers but have a different approach Suitable for us, “he said.
Jograna also meets the daily costs of teachers because they live in the village itself.
Jograna never missed the opportunity to discuss the problem with anyone she met.
Sajal Kulkarni, an activist who works with the shepherd, introduced it to NGOs.
“We have a training system of people who want to take careers in education.
NGOs offer fellowship.
The teachers come from various parts of the region that remain close to the community,” said Ganesh Birajdar from Companion Learning.
The model does not only provide exposure to people but the opportunity to learn for community members.
Funding for schools is raised through CSR activities from various companies.
“Jograna was interested in starting the project and she approached us and we helped connect the dots,” said Prajakta Atul, one of the contributors.
“Children can speak broken marathi but are comfortable with Hindi, which is also a medium of education.
I note that a number of children are rather good at mathematics.
Their exposure to a larger world slowly increased,” said Vrushab Khadse, a teacher who has already Spending some time at school in Sonkhambh’s 17-year-old nephew, if you want to study now.
“Because we have schools here, we are also wasting time to learn to read and write,” he said apart from education, Jograna said the community in Maharasthra also needed to get other basic facilities such as Aadhaar cards.
