Meerut: Ghulam Mohammad Jola has walked out of the body of the farmer he founded, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), after Muzafarmagar’s riots.
Tikait Brothers, Naresh and Rakesh, allegedly attended Mahapachayat where the speech divided before the riots in 2013.
Jola, a leader of influential Muslim farmers, broke.
Divide between JATS and Muslims run in years.
Now 85, Jola, who shared the stage with Tikaits on Sunday at Muzaffarnagar Mahapachayat, told TOI the difference was set aside for a reason that brings together their two communities in agricultural laws.
“We know the riots are a way to divide us.
We will not let that happen again,” Jola said on Monday.
“In Mahapchayat yesterday, farmers were fed by Muslim owners Dhaba …
When I fell ill, Rakesh (Tikait) raised the slogan ‘Allahu Akbar’ on my behalf …
JATS and Muslims were in it.” Jola has established BKU along with Mahendra Singh Tikait, father of Naresh and Rakesh, and becoming close friends.
After Muzaffarnagar’s riots, Jola left BKU and formed Bharatiya Kisan Mazdoor Sangh.
The presence of Jola at a farmer meeting, where BKU spokesman Rakesh raised the slogan of Allahu Akbar and Har Harl Mahadev as affirmation of religious unity, significantly.
The stage was set earlier this year, when BKU Naresh’s head apologized for saying what he did before the riots where 62 were killed and thousands of displaced people.
Since then, Jola and his son Sajid Ali have been seen with Naresh and Rakesh several times.
“Muslims will support everything SKM (Samyukt Kisan Morcha, the body of the peasant union umbrella that holds Mahapachayat Sunday) decided.
If they say we have to march to Lucknow, we will do it.
If they ask us to unite all Muslims in the country, we will , “Jola said.
“I think the big announcement is on the card for September 27 (SKM day is called Bandh Bharat).” The meeting on Sunday, where Lakh farmers from 16 states emerged, have scored strong political records, announcing ‘missions and Uttarakhand’ for the election of assembly of 2022 in both countries.
Jola said, “If Akhilesh (Yadav) and Jayant (Chaudhry) hand in hand and supported by the Bhim army, no one else will get a single chair in the West …
Mayawati finishes.”
