Nagpur: The shop owner under the blanket of the train station refused to shift to the commercial complex to be built by Mahametro next to the train station.
Instead, they demand monetary compensation that add up to around RS19 Crore.
Senior officials from the NMC Estate Depakment said this would be more delaying the project to build a six lane road in front of the Nagpur train station.
Because there are provisions in the current budget, the Civic body cannot pay one cent.
In 2018, the NMC had decided to destroy the flyover and the shops below it to open the way for Mahametro to develop a six lane road from Jaistambh to Loha Pul to Decongest traffic.
According to officials, if NMC wants to complete one of the transportation union transportation of the Nitin Gadkari Pet Project, it must cut funds for various other works to fund RS234 Crore plans to increase Chowk Chowk traffic, a middle ground fund project consisting of four components – shaped flyovers Y, Railway Underbridge (rubbing) near Loha Pul, concrete street cement and multilevel plaza parking.
NMC has spent RS16 Crore to build road trails and 175 stores below 2008.
The corporation has signed a 30-year lease agreement and takes around Rs 12 Crore as desposit when feeding 162 stores.
Officials said that Mahametro was building a commercial complex with 200 stores, which was part of a six-lane project, and according to Gadkari direction, NMC would have ownership rights.
Initially, some shop owners agreed to shift to the parking-cum-commercial plaza but then retreated.
Mahametro has built 70 stores for the transit period.
In this regard, civil bodies concluded that shop owners were not ready to move and want monetary compensation.
“Gadkari has directed the Civic’s body to complete the process without further delays,” said officials.
NMC has calculated the amount of compensation by reducing the rental agreement of money and other costs that apply, but not sure whether it will succeed.
Store owners can terminate compensation that demands the right land acquisition by following the Ready Reckoner level.
If this applies, the NMC must pay 2.5% more than the level of Ready Reckoner to the store owner, the official said.
Civil administration will submit proposals to compensate in the next public body meeting.
