New Delhi: A large number of SUVs stolen at the point of weapons in Delhi were taken to Bihar and used for Bootleging in dry conditions.
One racket run by trade trading from Bihar was arrested by the Branch of Delhi Regional Police.
The gang has done a series of cardics.
Three vehicles, two Innova and Creta, were looted in the first two weeks of October.
The man who was arrested, Ashish Rai aka Prince (30), owned by Siwan.
He was arrested by a team consisting of the Alok Daran and other inspectors from a special operating team.
His colleagues, Ravi Pandey, Swet Singh and Rajbir, also from Siwan.
The Rai gang was involved in a series of piracy incidents in the northwest, outside, Rohini and Western District Delhi.
The police have collected information about suspects in recent piracy when the Dinesh police chief received a tip-off of the involvement of RAI in the crime.
The team led by ACP Arvind put a trap in Vijay Vihar from Outer Delhi and Rai arrested after a brief pursuit.
A Hyundai Creta was confiscated from him.
It was found that Creta had been snatched in Gunpoint by Rai and his gang members from Prashant Vihar.
They had kidnapped the driver and then dumped it on the roadside before running away by the vehicle.
Rai has been hiding in rented accommodation in Budh Vihar.
Previously, he used to run the restaurant, but then took a crime.
Because of the increasing demand for vehicles to smuggle liquor in Bihar, the gang began to steal them in Delhi.
Vehicles are driven to Bihar where their number and information are changed before use for bootleging.
The gang had attacked in Inderpuri in West Delhi on October 9 where they grabbed an innovation after kidnapping the driver in Gunpoint.
Before that, they had taken innovation with the Haryana registration number on September 30 from the Police Station Kat Katju Marg in Outer Delhi.
Both of these vehicles were sent to Siwan and used for Bootleging, Rai disclosed during interrogation.
“Rai was also involved in the murder case in Bihar.
The effort was made to track his remaining gang members.
The police station concerned has been told about his involvement,” said a senior officer.
