Hyderabad: Telangana has urged the Sungai Krishna (KRMB) Management Board to stop Andhra Pradesh (AP) from expanding the Handri Scheme Neva Sujala Sravanthi (HNSS) and started a new project on the Krishna River immediately.
Since, the AP government has taken the expansion and new scheme without approval from the Ministry of Water Resources (MOWR), the assessment of the KRMB and the Apex Board, it must be taken to MOWR notifications to take the necessary actions.
The TRS government said it was also the provisions of the AP Reorganization Law, 2014.
In a letter to KRMB recently, Telangana Irrigation Engineer, C Muralidhar said the HNSS project and its expansion was being carried out by the AP government and tender notice was issued.
“The AP government recently issued a tender notice for an increase of 3,850 Cusec to 6,300 cusecs for the main channel and eight pump houses at a cost of 4,652 crore,” said Muralidhar.
He said the Telangana government had asked the KRMB to hold the AP from drawing more than 34 TMCFT water from the Srisailam reservoir.
HNSS Lis was not mentioned in the Inter-Country Agreement and Planning Commission Percisses for 34 TMCFT.
