Chennai: Grass war between two gangs in Kancheepuram saw a supermarket being damaged on Wednesday night, sending buyers to cover.
The police suspected it was part of the struggle for supremacy between two deceased Don Sridhar gang factions.
The gangs, led by Bridhar Thanikachalam brother-in-law and the others by Driver Dinesh and his colleague Thyagarajan, have been in Loggerhead since Don’s death in 2017.
While Thanikachalam was arrested about a year ago, Dinesh and Thyagarajan who were prison in prison for the past two years Released on a guarantee a few months ago.
Before his arrest, Thanikachalam had taken the illegal business of gang and the kangaroo court while Dinesh was in prison, police said.

The attack occurred after the owner refused to pay ‘mamool’, police said.
Then the gangsters went to Prabhu’s house, in Indra Nagar, and threatened his wife and attacked his sons when they could not find it.
Prabhu has separated from Dinesh after his arrest.
The gang also attacked two men who had hired a plot of land near the lake in Siruvakkam Village without paying the Commission to Dinesh and Thyagarajan, police said.
The duo is accepted for treatment.
The police have arrested five people and launched hunting for Dinesh and Thyagarajan.
