Texas Energy Company CenterPoint Energy Inc.
said on Tuesday that around 4,00,000 houses and businesses in the Houston service area without strength as a tropical storm Nicholas soaking the city.
It represents around 17% of Customer Power CenterPoint in the Houston area.
Nicholas is currently located about 30 miles (50 kilometers) southwest of Houston and can cause a flash flood that threatens the soul across the south in the next few days, according to the US National Hurricane Center.
Other utilities in Texas report less blackouts, count around 60,000 customers without power so far.
Separately, the South Texas nuclear plant, which is located near the Texas coast of around 90 miles south of Houston, continues to operate at full force Tuesday morning, according to the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
CO nuclear operation STP, which operates the South Texas nuclear plant, said on Monday night based on the weather forecast at that time the company planned “to operate through this tropical storm without reducing power or closed.” The four natural gas export plants (LNG) operating along the Gulf of Mexico, meanwhile, remain in service on Tuesday morning, according to Feedgas Pipeline data from refinitiv.
Three plants, Corpus Cheniere Energy Inc.
in Texas and Sabine Pass in Freeport Louisiana and Freeport LNG in Texas, all plan to take more gas on Tuesday than on Monday, and all have ships docked at the facility.
Cameron Cameron LNG factory in Louisiana is expected to take in the same amount of gas on Tuesday on Monday and there are no ships in the facility, according to refinitiv data.
