Pune: Civic’s body will execute various steps such as the construction of stormwater lines, culverts, Nullah cleansing, to handle flooding during heavy rains in more than 10 regions, including Dhanori-Vishrantwadi and Wadgaonther.
The works are planned under the third phase of the Stormwater management project.
The citizenship administration will spend around RS39 Crore to execute these steps.
The tender process to appoint an agent will begin.
As scheduled, the works are expected to be completed by 18 months after the work order is removed.
Dhanori, Vishrantwadi, Yerawada and Wadgonsteri area have witnessed landlogging during the rain last month.
Selected residents and representatives have demanded the provision of stormwater lines and Nullah cleansing to overcome the problem of water accumulation.
This problem is also raised by the Canporators at public body meetings.
PMC officials said the phase-3 of the project would cover areas under 12 basins including the eastern part of the city.
Areas include Hadapsar, Kondhwa, Hinges, Panshan-Bavdhan, among others, said the official.
“The work will include existing road surveys, storm waterways, nullah and identification of control points.
This will be followed by the construction of storm waterways on the side of the road, the construction of the culverts, eliminating smelting, cleaning, maintenance, and repair, construction of the side wall .
Surveys are being carried out to identify chronic spots.
The plan will be resolved based on observations, “said an official from the PMC drainage department.
Sunil Tingre, Wadgonsteri Mla, said that a meeting was carried out with PMC officials as soon as the floods in Dhanori and Wadgaontheri.
“The government has convinced to take complicated steps.
We will monitor the plan and work implementation,” Tingre said.
Suresh Jadhav, a resident of Vishrantwadi, said that the population faced difficulties during the rainy season.
“Water accumulates in many places.
Waterways are not cleaned.
Administration must update infrastructure,” he said.
