Trichy: Although only 31% of Trichy City are covered by the UGD Drainage Disposal System (UGD), unattended deviations in existing infrastructure is to defeat the purpose of the sub-surface waste network.
The residential area covered under the UGD network is still waste water to the storm water channel which eventually joins thus polluting freshwater channels in the city.
Residents expect the council to be elected after five years to resolve the problem of waste in all 65 wards.
The corporate source said there were only 63,527 residential and commercial underground drainage connections, which were 28% of the total traits in the city.
Since the 1980s, the parts of the city including Worairy, Varaganeri, Rockfort and Srirangam have received an ER network in different phases, but includes only a portion of the environment.
The new household built after the ER installation has not been connected to the network, with technical reasons such as the height difference and poor enforcement quoted as a reason.
When decades old waste pipes have a diameter as low as 12 inches, they are unable to manage current waste capacity.
Therefore, houses and companies take out waste water to stormwater waterways.
The stormwater channel network should only bring a rainwater surplus to the river which is used as a waste disposal point.
“Corruption in securing a new ER connection also prevents occupants Activities Civil Agency.
Ironically, as planned by Trichy Corporation to renovate the UGD network with the cost of RS 210 Crore under the Smart Cities mission, this project has recently been suspended by quoting practical difficulties.
“Because the City Administration Minister also came from the city, KAM I will find a solution to fund projects to improve basic facilities including waste networks, “Mu Anbalagan, former Deputy Mayor and DMK candidate for Ward 27, to Ti.
