NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: Stress, neurosis and depression are a few of the emotional health problems that Covid patients have been fighting many hospitals at Noida and Ghaziabad. The District Combined Hospital at Ghaziabad has written to the chief medical officer, also asking that a psychologist be set up for the counseling and treatment for these patients. “There are lots of patients who’ve defeat Covid, but are so fearful of this disease they are not prepared to go home from the clinic. Approximately five-six patients also have refused to return home after being discharged. We’ve given them beds from different parts of the hospital since they can’t be made to depart,” explained Dr Sanjay Teotia, the primary medical superintendent. Dr Saket Nath Tiwari, a consultant psychologist with federal mental health programs, stated,”we’ve been counselling Covid sufferers for the last year. Stress and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder are the most frequent problems being confronted by sufferers. A helpline number — 0120-4155313 — is there and they could contact us with their own inquiries and questions. Moreover, they could come to the OPD in MMG District Hospital on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.” As stated by Dr Chanda Yadav, a clinical psychologist using the programme, they’ve been receiving three-four calls to the helpline daily. “This time round, whole families are becoming affected and a number have seen deaths also. We’re also seeing examples of depression and individuals with recurrent thoughts of self-harm. To manage this pressure, we educate them relaxation methods. We also request them to spend time in their own hobbies or socialize with their family ,” Dr Yadav said. Physicians in Noida, also, said that there have been increasing instances of depression and anxiety among taxpayers. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) at town has been conducting a”physician on call” agency together with assistance from the Noida Authority. “Many of these calls which are coming in today are for doctors and psychologists. There are those that aren’t Covid patients however have stress issues since they fear that the infection.,” explained Dr Mohita Sharma, secretary of IMA, Noida. Dr Kiran Jakhar, psychologist in the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), stated that in patients that have had a lengthy stay in the ICU, there are increased likelihood of ICU psychosis and delirium. “This wasn’t seen in cases till this past year. These cases have a grave prognosis,” she added.
