Stretch in Hospet-Keshtagi Road A Death Trap for Animals

Koppal: almost five kilometers long in Road Hospet-KeshTagi, which formed a part of the national highway, has gained a reputation to be a real trap of death for wild animals looking for food.
Stretching in MyDaneri Cross in Yelburga Taluk, Koppal Regency, where a wild animal business to find food, has become a grave for many animals that come under a speeding vehicle wheel.
Among other things, deer and bear step out of the forest lining the highway on both sides, looking for food.
But crossing a narrow stretch that divides two forests proves that adventure is harmful to these poor animals.
On December 21, the Sloth Bear was killed in Myaneri Cross while crossing the road at night.
Activists told TOI that most bears and deer were victims on the road.
“In addition to those killed, many of them maintained serious injury, incidents that were not reported.
The problem is that the name board founded by the Forestry Department is not visible by the driver at night.
The department must take steps to save this life of poor animals,” said an activist.
Assistant forest conservator, Koppal, Shivakumar Beagi said that they had established several councils, urging motorists to reduce their speed while driving along stretching, but it didn’t work.
“Drivers do not heed our warnings.
In recent years, one or two bears killed under the wheel of the vehicle, while the death of the Bear Sloth on December 21 was the first fatality reported this year.
We have approached the National Highway Authority.
India (NHAI) , demanding that the Speaker be built throughout the stretch.
We also want to establish more signposts on both sides of the road.
Meanwhile, we have increased patrols on the streets behind the death of the Bear Sloth, “Beangi said.
.
He connects an accident to drive recklessly.
“People who drive after consuming alcohol are also responsible for such an accident.
We will start working to immediately build a speedbreaker on the road,” Beagi added.
The Forest KM Nagaraj Range Officer said that farmers in villages bordered for forests cultivated by watermelon, corn, et al.
“As a result, wild animals from Sullikeri, Meragall, Chilakmuki and other areas in the forest deviant to these villages looking for food at night,” he added.
