Strict action against attacks on creative freedom: cm

Thiruvananthapuram: The head of Pinarayi Vijayan’s minister stated that the government would take strict action against the attack on creative freedom.
The statement of the minister’s chairman in the assembly on Wednesday came after the incident of the Youth Congress activist protested and blocked film shooting in the state, in connection with the controversy involving Joju George’s actor.
Responding to submission by MLA M Mukesh in this matter, the minister’s head said that the government would not let anyone take the law into their hands.
Encrimination into creative freedom of artists will be handled strongly by the government.
Dictate what should be eaten or used by someone else is a fascist approach.
There are people in the country involved in such practice.
We call it uncivilized anti-social, he said.
He said that attacks on creative freedom had occurred in the state too and there was no power that could prevent anyone from practicing a person’s profession without fear.
The government will take strong action against anyone who tries to do it, he said.
Without giving Joju’s name, Vijayan said that the attack on actor was not an isolated incident, and there was an indication of the planned decision behind this.
Without naming the activist of the Youth Congress, he said that it was surprising that the group of people behind the attack took the cover of democracy for their actions.
He warned that they had to realize that the land was not fertile for fascist practice and they had to give up their beliefs that they could use muscle strength.
The opposition leader VD Sathean criticized how to protest the Youth Congress and said that the blocking of film shootings could not be justified and Congress protests did not oppose the film’s personality, but against the increase in fuel prices.
He said that the party would take action against anyone who used such practice.
