Thiruvananthapuram: Circular Service Corporation Kerala State Road Transport (KSRTC) is ready to be launched in the city immediately.
As part of the initiative, the meeting led by the Transport Minister Antony Raju has decided to enforce strict regulations to prevent illegal parking.
The new City Circular was introduced as part of strengthening the service fleet where they were previously not available.
In the initial phase, the city’s circular service will run along the seven routes.
Color coded buses will take these routes clockwise and anti-clockwise all day long.
After getting permission, the public can take a number of vehicles on a circular bus route.
Because of the potential traffic congestion caused by illegal parking, the meeting decided to take action against parking that violated the law, especially along the route used by circular services.
In the choking area, two buses arrive at the same time can cause significant traffic congestion.
Therefore it was found that a much better solution was to prevent vehicle parking in that crowded area.
Officials from the Traffic Police Department said in a meeting led by the Minister of Transportation that the vehicle was found parking on these routes and not in the appointed parking lot to be withdrawn.
Officials have promised that a multi-level parking lot in the main office of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation in Pallayam will be accessible to the public and will also expand parking facilities in the city.
The meeting was attended by officials from the Department of Public Works, Police, Public Works and Road Safety Authorities, as well as Secretary of Transportation Biju Prabhakar and Thiruvananthapuram Sub Collector Madhavikty.
