Kolkata: About 3,000 gas stations in West Bengal will join a one-day attack on August 31, said a petroleum dealer said on Monday.
The Association of West Bengal Petroleum Dealers (WBPDA) calls for non-purchase agitation – not sold on Tuesday to suppress the two main demands – stop the supply of ethanol-mixed gasoline during the rainy season and place a brief fuel supply to be distributed by the station.
The 24-hour strike will begin at 6 am on Tuesday.
“The gasoline mixture of ethanol is very hygroscopic.
(During the rainy season) it absorbs water from the atmosphere while the rain water goes into the underground tank at the gas station.
This causes a big problem for dealers and consumers.
It also causes distrust between the US and buyers,” WBPDA.
Secretary with Pasjist Pen said.
Oil marketing company (OMC) must create awareness among people about this and limit the supply of gasoline ethanol-blended during the rainy season, he said.
Vice President of the Bhaumik Snehasish Association said another problem – the supply of short fuel to the gas station by OMC – was the old and not visible by others.
“Most of our profitability runs in adjusting fuel revugging during transit.
This can be as many as 1 percent of the amount of fuel loaded.
For example, in a typical tank truck carrying 12,000 liters (fuel)., It can amount to around Rs 12,000,” He said.
