Chiang Mai: a strong and superficial earthquake shook North Myanmar on Thursday and felt as far as northern Thailand.
The US geological survey said the magnitude of 5.5 earthquakes occurred in northern Mandalay around 46 kilometers (28 miles) northeast of Shwebo.
It is centered 10 kilometers (6 miles) below the earth’s surface, said USGS.
Shallow earthquakes tend to cause more damage to the structure on the surface.
The USGS said the land shock was “very strong” and some possible injuries, but there was a possibility of low damage.
The building in Chiang Mai in North Thailand swayed about half a minute.
The seismic fault line flows through North Myanmar, causing an earthquake occasionally.
In May, a strong and shallow earthquake shook southwest China near the border with Myanmar, killing at least three people and injuring more than two dozen.
