Gurugram: The city’s air quality is still ‘very poor’ on Wednesday.
The air quality index (AQI) is 341 on Wednesday, a large increase from Tuesday 306.
Low wind speeds likely to weaken dispersion of pollutants that lead to air quality degradation on Thursday.
From December 17 and so on, AQI is expected to increase due to stronger winds, according to the air quality system and weather forecasting and research (Safar).
Vikas Saban monitoring station recorded the highest AQI in 364 on Wednesday, followed by sector 51 in 355, Gwaldahahari in 327 and Chram Teri at 313.
Meanwhile, the minimum temperature of Gurugram was recorded at 8.5 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, while the maximum 21.4 degrees Celsius.
According to Safar, partially cloudy conditions and high mixing layers tend to maintain the quality of the air in the ‘very poor’ category for the next two days.
Air quality is likely to increase on December 17, and from the following day and so on, a significant increase is expected due to high wind speeds that will make AQI in the ‘poor’ category or ‘lower end’.
Aqi Faridabad also ‘very poor’ on Wednesday at 334.
Noida also recorded ‘very poor’ air quality, but Ghaziabad recorded ‘poor’ air quality.
Aqis respectively 309 and 290.
Meanwhile, air quality in Delhi remains ‘very poor’.
