The archaeologists explore the Kodume’s site close to the banks of the Noyal River near Chennimlai in Erode have found a stone structure that is considered a well.
Wells rings and brick wells have been found on other archaeological sites in Tamil Nadu such as Keezhadi, a structural debris rare, archaeologist said.
The well, measuring ten times ten meters, has two lanes – one on the south side and the other on the north side which is 30 meters long from the end to tip.
This path is found during excavation.
Done before the locking Covid and the archaeologists assume that it could be a channel for the past three days they have explored around 2.3 meters and hopes that the well can be ten meters deep.
“Through years of excavation we have found archaeological evidence for industrial activities on the site of Kodumarl.
The discovery of wells has suggested it is not just an industrial site but it is also one of the residence,” said J Ranjith, Archaeological Officials and Director of the Project for the Kodumar site.
In the past, archaeologists have found evidence for the existence of iron smelting units with furnaces other than the funeral, beads, pots with Brahmi inscriptions, 2,300 years old.
In fact, the Kodumanal has resulted in the largest number of pots with the Tamil Brahmi inscription, said Ranjith.Ranjith said the Kodumaral site has a copper, gold, iron and glass and artifacts.
There are three types of burial methods – Circle Cairn, jar funerals and jar funerals with CIS found in the Kodumanal.
On the logic to have a good digging here, even though it is close to the banks of the river, archaeologists feel that there is a possibility that it is excavated for industrial use.
“There is evidence to show that it is involved in polishing stones other than iron ore smelting.
So, they will be asked for water sources near river every time.
It can present drinking water,” said Ranjith.
The well wall was built above Natural stone beds use local materials available such as porous granite.
