Student murder: 3 girls among 9 held

Chennai: Tiruvallur police on Thursday arrested nine people including three small girls for the murder of a Mannivakkam student whose body was excavated at Eechangadu near Arambakkam on Saturday.
Police said that the little girls were arrested – two school students and one from college – sent to the observation house.
While the main defendant – Ashok Kumar, 21, from Kandigai Village and Levin, 22 Merah Bukit – surrendered on Tuesday, the other accused of being identified as Moses, 21, Stephan, 21, Praveadhan, 20, from Ponneri.
The police said they were employed at the factory in the area.
College students who have died – Premkumar Mannivakkam, – threatened two female students with recording their telephone conversations and several videos and extorting Rs 50,000 from each.
He even warned that he would appear in their home if they did not part with the money.
One of the girls then approached his sister, a student, who in turn sought help from Ashok Kumar, his Instagram friend said, police said.
As was ordered by Ashok Kumar, the girls asked Plum Kumar to come to the designated place at Red Hills.
They had asked him to remove their photos and their telephone recordings in possession of Prem Kumar, but he and his friends kidnapped Prem Kumar on a two-wheeled vehicle and took him to each of them where the gang members smoked marijuana.
Premkumar’s friend, who accompanied him to place, fled and after Ashok and the others began attacking Prem Kumar.
“The girls are part of a crime because they don’t approach us until the body is excavated,” said an officer.
