Students from Nagpur’s Danteshwari Nagar Slum find it difficult to learn because of the lack of availability of smartphones and data package fees.

Laxmi, a student who lives in the slums to Ani, “It is difficult for us to study with one phone.
The internet package is also expensive and sometimes there is a network problem too.”

“Learning from school is a more convenient choice for our children, online classes have made things difficult.
We are a daily wage worker, can’t keep their studies” tell parents.
Jayshree Chikane, a teacher at the nearest government school said, “Students face problems, especially young children.
At least 50 percent of our students do not have smartphone access.”
As a school throughout the country continues to close due to Covid-19 pandemic, many children are afraid of losing quality education.
The Maharashtra government on May 9 informed that there would be no increase in school fees for this academic year 2020-21 in the state.
