Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has supported the inclusion of books by VD Savarkar and MS Golwarkar in the Syllabus of the University of Kannur.
There should be opportunities for children to study different ideologies, the governor said which is also a university chancellor.
“The beauty of Indian culture is its diversity.
Students must have every opportunity to learn and understand all concepts and ideologies.
This is only beneficial for students in developing their knowledge skills.
This helps students to improve the process of their thinking which can help in contributing to the development of the state .
This is a recognized fact in society, “the governor said when talking to the media here on Saturday.
He reacted to controversy over alleged safronization in the Syllabus of the University of Kannur.
“Only those who have the capacity to come up with innovative ideas that can develop in the world.
People who feel uncomfortable with the study of various views causing losses to themselves,” he said.
The governor said that intolerance was being expressed by those who did not want to study the true perspectives and ways were to express disagreement after understanding things.
“Every ideology must be learned to develop more creative thoughts.
Apart from opposing something blindly, people must learn the facts,” he said.
There had been a broad protest against the decision of the University of Kannur in inserting RSS ideologies in postgraduate courses.
Therefore, the expert panel has been formed to review the controversial syllabus.
The minister’s chairman also stated a strong order for the inclusion of these texts.
He has said that the government is not ready to glorify people who do not have a role in the struggle of the country’s freedom.
