Coimbatore: The decision by the Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI), Mettupalayam, to postpone the entrance ticket to BSC Sericulture has been condemned by the part of the student from the Sericulture.Fcri Department is Constituent College of Tamil Nadu Agriculture University (TNAU), Coimbatore.
While TNAU issued a notification of acceptance for various programs, BSC Sericulture was missing from the prospectus of the University acceptance.
With negligence, students from the fourth year, the third and second year along with several PhD students from the Sericulture Department held a demonstration in front of the college against the decision.
They looked for TNAU to admit to students Sericulture.S Ranjith Kumar, a PhD scholar from the Sericulture Department, shows that in 2016 the state government included Sericulture BSC as a feasibility for the Assistant Post Inspector in the Sericulture Department.
By stopping entry, the university underestimates the course value.
“The degree program has been stored in delay,” said N Kumar, Deputy Chancellor TNAU, Coimbatore, while talking to Ti by telephone.
He said Mettupalayam was not a suitable place for this program.
They look for another place for the department and until then it will be stored in delay.
“There is a ticket entry to the course for the past few years.
There are also not many government work for those who pursue courses,” said the Chancellor.
The internet is there is no request for this program and they cannot fill even 30 seats available in the first year, VC said that the course was not closed.
“We will discuss with the state government and see what can be done,” he said.
At present, 77 students are studying in four years BSC, MSc and PhD programs offered at the Sericulture Department.
